COMPATROL® - The Success Story Continues
Three years ago, Weber MT launched its COMPATROL®-Technologie,
the first continuous compaction control system for walk-behind soil compactors.
The measuring system ist available for the CR 6, CR 7 and CR 8 soil compactors.
Now, we present: COMPATROL®-MSM
COMPATROL®-MSM completes the proven compaction control system by a machine and service management. This new system notifies the operator of failures and required maintenance work. During the development of this system, too, a major emphasis has been placed on ease of use and simplicity of reading.
If the battery voltage, the engine oil pressure, the air filter restiction, the vibrator frequency or the engine speed are outside of the predetermined tolerance ranges, the corresponding diodes will light up on the display to indicate a malfunction. Damages resulting from neglected maintenance or late failure detection can thus be avoided.
Machines equipped with COMPATROL®-MSM are started by a start button, whereby an inductive starting chip legitimates the operator and releases the starting procedure. In addition to this active protection against theft, the chip also allows the transmission of operating data. A special advantage for rental companies, because, in case of need they can now invoice their customers for the exact rental time.

Homebuilding Years Away From Recovery But Growing
|
WASHINGTON -- The homebuilding industry is years away from recovering from the excesses of the housing boom.
Even with a modest rise in construction last month, the pace of building would need to at least double to signal a healthy market and contribute in a meaningful way to job growth, according to most economists. They don't see that happening until the middle of the decade.
Builders are competing with millions of foreclosures and other distressed properties that show no signs of abating. They are unlikely to ramp up construction until those are cleared away and demand for new homes picks up.
Home construction did rise 10.5 percent in August, to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 598,000, the Commerce Department said Tuesday. The results, however, were boosted by a 32 percent jump in apartment and condominium construction, a volatile part of the market.
Construction of single-family homes, which represented about 73 percent of the market in August, grew only about 4 percent from a month earlier. While overall housing starts are up 25 percent from their bottom in April 2009, they are still 74 percent below their peak in January 2006.
"Homebuilding activity remains at an astoundingly weak level," said Paul Dales, U.S. economist with Capital Economics.
Most economists agree that construction has to be at least double current levels for the market to be considered healthy - between 1.2 million and 1.5 million each year. Dales doesn't see that happening for

REDMOND, WASH. (February 8, 2010) – In an effort to increase operator productivity, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation (NYSE:TEX), will now offer four new Genie® telescopic boom models that provide greater platform capacity within a restricted outreach as a standard feature. The four new models: the Genie® S™-60X, the S™-60XC, the S™-60 Trax, and the S™-80X will feature restricted platform capacities up to 1,250 lbs, the highest in the industry. The unrestricted operating envelope will feature the same 500 lbs capacity and outreach as the existing machine. The new S-80X will be on display at the American Rental Association (ARA) tradeshow in Orlando, FL. February 8 – 10 at booth 4700.
By increasing the work platform capacity, the maximum number of occupants has increased to three, thereby increasing job productivity. Outreach is automatically restricted by the operator by selecting the appropriate platform capacity. An operator-friendly common control panel assists with machine operation.
